General Notes
According to CIS the letters resemble Aramaic. For this reason and the presense of Greek letters, the editors assume the script is not as old as that from the reign of Amasis. Thus, it is likely Persian period (Moore).
This Phoenician graffito is dated to the sixth century BCE. CIS 111-113 (see also DEAPS numbers 16910 and 16911) are carved into the leg of the broken colossal statue at the Great Temple of Ramesses II at Abu Simbel, located south of Aswan. This temple was built to the sun gods Amen-Re and Re-Horakhte (Wheaton).

Textual Notes
"Line 1 - The name אשמניתנ is a very common Phoenician name meaning “Ešmun gives.” Krahmalkov (2000, 340) says that SRHW is a site along the Nile, possibly another name for Abu Simbel or a nearby location.
Line 2 - The word אשמנ… is possibly the name Ešmunyaton and is a shortened restatement of what he said in the previous line or the beginning of a name of another person with him." (Wheaton).
