James Moore

On the 20[+1] (= 21st) of [Kis]le[v, that is da]y [20+]1 (= 21) of [Mes]ore, year 6 of Artaxerxes the king, said Maḥseyah
son of Yedanyah, a Ju[dean o]f Elephantine of the DGL-unit of Hawmadata, to Yezanyah son of ˀÛryah in the same DGL-unit,
saying: There is land of a house of mine, west of the house of yours, which I gave to Mibṭaḥyah
my daughter, your wife, and a document I wrote for her concerning it. The measurements of that house: 13 cubits and a handbreadth
by 11 by the measuring rod. Now, I, Maḥseyah, said to you: That land build (up) and {enrich it| prepare in it her house}
and dwell herein with your wife. But that house — you do not have right to sell it or to give (it)
lovingly to others but it is your children from Mibṭaḥyah my daughter (who) have right to it
after you (both). If tomorrow or the next day that land you build (up and) afterwards my daughter hate you
and go out from you, she does not have right to take it and give it to others but it is your children from
Mibṭaḥyah (who) have right to it in exchange for the work which you did. If she shall reclaim
from you, half the house [s]h[al]l be hers to take but the other half — you have right to it in exchange for
the building (improvement)s which you have built into that house. And furthermore, that half — it is your children from Mibṭaḥyah
(who) have right to it after you. If tomorrow or the next day I bring against you suit or process
and say: “I did not give you that land to build (up) and I did not write for you this document,” I
shall give you silver, 10 karsh by the stone(-weight)s of the king, silver 2 q(uarters) to the ten, without suit or without process.
Wrote ˁAttaršûrî son of Nabûzerˀibni this document in Syene the fortress at the instruction of Maḥseyah. The witnesses
herein: (2nd hand) witness Hôšeˁa son of Pelalyah; (3rd hand) witness Zekaryah son of Natan;
(4th hand) witness Gemaryah son of Maḥseyah; (5th hand) witness Zekaryah son of Mešullam;
