Textual Notes
The inscription has been edited as Aramaic, likely due to the crown on the B and N, but these forms are found on Phoenician inscriptions from Elephantine/Syene as well as from the greater mediterranean (e.g. Teixidor, MMJ 11, no. 23 middle hand). Lidzbarski identified this as a "sigla," and TAD followed asking "Potter's mark ?". The problem is that the word would be Phoenician if it means "son" but the script, particularly the ב is written in Aramaic. Translated here as a short form of the name בניה, though admittedely one might expect a final י.
