Textual Notes
cv 1: אגז: someone by this name is known from patronymic at Elephantine: 10644. Ber. P. 23924. recto. 3'.
The last letter is not כ because of the crown shape on it. Better it is ו or less likely ר. Compare the two stroke כ on line 3 and in Phoenician from Elephantine.
cv 2: The name is almosts certainly בד and is probably a variant without alef of בדא Bodo.
See now Killebrew, "Phoeniciane Iron Smithing Cult," which confirms the smithing context of the inscription. She agrees it's a cultic dedicatory inscription, and overlooks the taxation function. The "numismatic evidence" for Greek mercinaries is difficult because the greek stater was accepted everywhere as Persian currency in the Mediterranean.
