Textual Notes
cc 1: Compare Akk. ḫiṣṣaṣātu (or ḫizzazātu ?) pl. (an offering food)? j/NB; ḫiṣṣu I; pl. f. “reed bundle”? M/NB for irrigation banks; < ḫaṣāṣu I; ḫiṣṣu(m) II “gravel” NB; Mari, ext. (as feature on liver); also the verbs ḫaṣāṣu(m) I “to snap off” O/jB G (a/u) neck, reed; transf. of death ḫāṣiṣ amēlūti “snapping off mankind”; stat., of part of body “is broken away” D ~ G + pl. obj.: reeds, mountains, people Dt pass. of D, of reed-stems “be snapped off”; > ḫiṣṣu I; ḫuṣṣuṣu; ḫaṣāṣu II “to erect (reed hut)” NA, NB G (a/u) with ḫuṣṣu; < ḫuṣṣu denom.
I wonder if this reed bundle is a portable reed chapel (like a MSGDˀ see B7.3) where the swearing occurs. Compare the reed huts in the hebrew bible sukkot.
cv 5: <note>Perhaps read מומא “the oath.”</note>
