Textual Notes
cc 2: The paleography is clear, rd. תעקק; see HL’s discussion. As for the meaning, the only possible cognate Akk. eqēqu “to be paralyzed” does not fit the context. Reading a reduplicated stem or √עוק “to be oppressed” appears to be favored by AD-S. One wonders if instead a D-stem geminate verb is intended here √עקק “to cut/collect wood” as a denominal from עק (the second radical is doubled in the nominal base (*ˁvqqu > ˁvq, plural ˁvqqīn cf. Akk. iṣṣu). Denominal forms often appear in the D-stem, here *tᵉ/ᵃˁaqqeq “you shall cut/collect wood.” Note עקן appears in the next line.
cv 5: Forms √יכל/כהל plus an inflected verb are expected to grammatically agree.
cv pal 5: Reading מתמרט. Compare EM 43464 b cc ln. 5.
